B1 Ride - Dent P&R - Shane Blackmore
A small group of five riders met at Hornby, although the car park was blocked off due to a local Plant sale, Paul and I had ridden in from Morecambe/Lancaster Ken arrived first followed by Jane and Katie.
Leaving Hornby we first headed for Wray on our way to Burton in Lonsdale.
As We turned off Ravens Close Brow Jane decided to head for home after having the Covid Jab the day before and was not feeling 100%.
Four of us continued on I had forgotten I had ridden this route with the B2’s back in 2017 which meant I did not know what was ahead as you all know I am useless without my Sat Nav. Paul took great delight in explaining what hills we would need to climb and when he said he mate on a ebike got off and walked up I was a little worried to say the least. Then came Kingsdale the two Mountain goats Katie and Paul disappeared into the distance leaving Kenny and me to make our way up this climb at a slower pace. Climb number one done and dusted, glad we did not come up the other way. All safely down the other side into Dent for the café stop. All fed and watered it was time to head to Barbon via Gawthrop another little climb I had forgotten I had done previously I remembered coming down it a few times but never going up. This time Katie hit the front on her own and off she went to say she was not feeling 100% either you would not have known. Regrouping at the top it was time for the long downhill to Barbon, although a headwind did slow us down a little. Heading to Kirkby Lonsdale then Docker and Arkholme and finally back to Hornby leaving Katie and Kenny at their cars Paul and I headed back to Lancaster into a strong headwind.
The average pace was around 13.6mph given that we climbed over 5000ft I don’t think that was too shabby well done all. Another enjoyable ride with great company.
