Wednesday 8th January 2020

Six of us set off from the Cobbles with a new addition to the group – a warm welcome to John Passmoor! We picked up Karen (coughing and sneezing) at Myerscough, so a good turnout for a January Whizz! Weather was very kind to us as we made our way to Lytham but some of the back lanes were a little muddy. Karen abandoned us as we came into Lytham but kindly shared out her Jelly Babies before leaving us. Photo opportunity at the Windmill and then we headed to Lowther Pavilion for our coffee stop (I was slightly disappointed that Ken did not do the usual sprint to be first in the queue). No tables free so we decided to try Lytham Hall. The peloton was caught off guard as Ken left us for dust on the long driveway up to the cafe. Lunch eaten we headed home with the wind behind us keeping up a very good average speed. Great day out with a lovely group of riders who were all very well behaved! The only disappointment was my Strava didn’t record the ride so I can only dream of all the unrecorded PB’s!
