B2 Ride to Waddington by Dave Hodgson
Today's ride left the cobbles in sunshine (yes sunshine). It was a joint B1 and B2 ride as the B1 ride didn't have an RC.
17 riders set off and once we re grouped at the Kenlis Pub we decided to split the group with 6 riders (the fast ones) setting off ahead.
The ride to Waddington was pretty uneventful apart from picking up a rider at Bleasdale (Martin Oglesby) and saying goodbye to Phil Rut and Phil Morgan at Chipping and on the road to Cow Ark.
Oh I forgot Luke Van Lincoln decided to get up close and personal with a mature driver who decided to pass Luke with a few inches to spare.
At the cafe stop we met the first group. Following a hearty lunch we set off back with now three riders from the first group with us (I think that makes 13). Keeping count of my sheep today was almost impossible.
The climb up past Stoneyhurst was in glorious sunshine and once we had ridden the roller coaster along the top of Jeffrey Hill we said goodbye to our Newbie Simon at the reservoir at Longridge.
On the flat return on the quiet lanes we said goodbye to Martin and then John Keohane before I arrived back in Garstang with 7. Not bad considering I started with 17. Trust you all got home safely.
Anyway, a great ride out with great company. A special thanks to Shane Blackmore for being my rear gunner today.
Well done to Jane stepping up from the C group and well done Simon glad you enjoyed your first ride with club.
