C Ride - Beacon Fell - Keith Parkinson
6 riders met on the cobbles, we reckon for the first time in 16 months, only the tough ones turned up, Paul, Stuart, Violet, Mick, John and myself! The weather started of OK and we regrouped at Kenlis where we was joined by Malcolm. As we were making steady progress along lodge road and ducketts lane, it became clear we weren't the only cyclists on the road and were quickly overtaken by a peloton of speeding cyclists and then a few more stragglers followed by an assortment of race vehicles, that safely negotiated we made steady progress to beacon fell, where some of us shed our jackets before the ascent, this was the key for the heavens to open so by the time we were down rigg lane they went back on, our route changed from the normal given route to accommodate the new cafe on the inglewhite road, the look out cafe, which we reached bedraggled, but thankfully not disappointed with the sustenance provided or the service, when we arrived at the cafe, we immediately recognized a club stalwart in civvies, Frank and his wife, and was delighted to see them enjoying being doting grandparents.
On the way back the heavens opened, Stuart, John and Paul left to go home at the horns inn, Violet left after bourne brow to make her way back to Lytham and Malcolm, Mick and myself rode back to Garstang. A wet day but a day I found to be very enjoyable because of the excellent company, you make ride leading such a pleasure,
