B2 Ride To Silverdale Report - Chris Jones
On a dank Autumnal morning (I always thought July was summer time) 7 of us set off from The Bellflower missing the two peas who decided to ride locally instead, I thought there was 6 but Sarah caught up with us just as we left and I didn't realise she was there for a few miles. As well as Sarah I was joined by Ste living the dream Woodward, Richard countdown Whitely, Ian weighs 50 kilos McGrath, Big Ring Dave and Simon I've got a new Wahoo Ashby. We also met up with Miriam Sturdee at Five Lane Ends.
Anyway we were soon zooming along and climbing up towards Quernmore and for the first time ever no-one passed me up the hills, maybe I'm getting fitter or more likely everyone was just busy chatting
From there it was my favourite very speedy bits onto Caton and a brief toilet stop at Woodies.
With more little hills we headed across towards Silverdale via the Yealands with Simon giving us a running commentary of the hill gradients, I think he's a little excited with his new Wahoo????
Big queue to get served at The Wolf House Gallery cafe but we all found a seat in the courtyard and the sun was even threatening an appearance.
After wolfing (pun intended) down some delicious cake and bacon rolls we headed off to Warton, Carnforth and The Kellets before the fast descent down into Halton.
Then straight onto Lancaster off the official route as didn't think it was a good idea to take a group of 8 along the canal towpath as one of us might have taken a swim??
I then left the group in Simon's (I've got the route on my new Wahoo) capable hands to lead them back to Garstang via the University and Scorton.
Great day out in good company with no rain????
