B2 Ride - Grange - Simon Ashby
Myself, Chris. Christine, Cervelo, David, Annette, Ian Pickles, Steve, Ian Mcgraw, Dave (76).
Arriving from various directions, we assembled at the Stork at 10.00 for our adventure to Grange. Well perhaps not for everyone! Paula had an unexpected trip to the vets, one pea down. Annette and Christine announced they hadn't realised the ride was to Grange and were diverting to Morecambe and Heysham! They just read a trip to the coast, not the Cumbria coast. Others in the group then realised Grange would be a 90 mile trip and followed Annette's desertion . Therefore,at the millennium bridge there were only 4 musketeers left. Myself, Chris, Ian and Dave (76). Being only a pelaton of 4 we sped up the A6 and were soon past Silverdale and on our way to Grange. Perfect weather and quiet lanes. Fortified with Cumberland sausages and refreshments we sped homewards with a tailwind. We were soon at Morecambe where Chris was happy to be home, repeating " I'm so glad I don't have to go all the way back to Garstang!" Well! so were we?? Ian and Dave, keen to get home picked up the pace. We were soon back in Garstang and was not surprised to see my strava overflowing with PRs. ??
