B1 Crew JUBILEE TOWER Ride Report - Louis Meyer
A decent turn out at the Bellfower despite gloomy skies meant two groups of B1 riders again today Sim Tucker Katie Hurt Trevor Ford Dan Ford & myself formed the second bunch taking on the local hills in the name of pure enjoyment. Trev‘s eagerness to get rolling meant his arrival in a bobble hat rather than his helmet delayed our start but a quick dash home soon put this right. He returned crowned with the unmissable highlighter yellow number. Wheels rolling we headed through Scorton on to Quernmore & Caton where conversations soon centred on how appropriately dressed we were or maybe weren’t in Katie’s case for what the British spring had in store. It was an on off cycle of rain capes for the rest of the day. Littledale was the first port of call where we caught up the with the other now slightly smaller group. We all convened at the top where jovial banter ensued. A sweeping decent made for some speed down the other side and we ambled over a few more lumps in the eventual direction of Jubilee. My hopes of reaching the top first were again dashed by Katie and in spite of my best efforts the gap couldn’t be closed?? A detour through Abbeystead made for a speedy return to Scorton where it was decided Daisyclough was the cafe stop. A request for soy milk caused a medium level of confusion but no alarm and talk of our relative vegetarianism gave way to the ordering of bacon. The rain was pouring and we were all soaked by the time we hit Pilling where Sim peeled off home. The others returned to Garstang and I ambled back to Poulton by which point the rain had stopped and it was time for a beer which proved a satisfactory end to the ride.
