Rufty Tufty - Phil Morgan
Usual doom and gloom weather forecast for today ( Saturday), so the best solution as far as I was concerned was to do something where getting wet, muddy and blown all over the place by the wind was all part of the fun...a Rufty Tufty..
El Pedro ( Peter Heyworth) Souper Mario ( Chris Astbury) , with me in tow covered roughly 55 miles plus on our MTB ‘s across ( muddy) fields, through rivers, and along ( very very muddy) Canal towpaths ... in theory we did the Guild Wheel, but that was with a ton of stuff before, and after until heavy rain stopped play and we went to the pub ... inevitably....
The chuckle brothers were going well as usual , in training for further mad adventures, and I wasn’t far behind...we were averaging around 12 mph until we hit the canal....this dropped to under 11 what with my climb back up the big Long Lane climb home, and Soupers return home in a block headwind....
Cafe as per pics was Roots where we bumped into the A’s , and where the wind was so strong it blew over the bikes!
Great day out and kudos to anyone who braved the weather and the A6 ( which we crossed twice)??
