GCC A (ish) ride to Kitridding Farm Cafe - Sue Taylor
Given no leader on the ride program, a solid weather forecast for Saturday, and not being a fan of P’n’R, I stepped in to lead a ride from Garstang. The concept was a cafe previously unvisited by the club, Kitridding Farm, hidden away somewhere in the vague vicinity of Killington.
We had 3 guest riders today: Dan ‘nuts and bolts’ Winstanley, who was an absolute star gallantly taking much headwind during the day. Second was newish member Annette (apologies if I have got this wrong) who turned up for the C ride but managed to head out with us over the A6 before she saw the error of her ways.
Thirdly we randomly picked up Steve ‘return of the’ Mack at Postern Gate, and he towed us to Kirkby Lonsdale before making excuses of ‘needing to get back early’.
The lanes north after KL were a total joy with bluebells still in their prime and an assortment of other blue and white wild flowers (sorry not a flower expert but they were pretty)
Luckily for me the hidden cafe materialised and we were very attentively served by multiple young ladies who were pleased to see some sweaty clientele. Also luckily for me the tray bakes were big enough to share and I benefited from both Dan’s and Keith’s ‘eyes bigger than your belly’ syndrome.
We got caught in a sharp cold shower near Arkholme but made it safely back into the sunshine through Lancaster.
Thanks all for coming.
Souper Mario has not posted his ride yet, I’m guessing he’s in the pub...
