C Ride - Blackpool - 40 miles - RC - Michael H
I guess today was a foretaste of weather to come bright and crisp but bitterly cold at 9.30am. Nine C riders set off from the cobbles, to be joined at Elswick by Keith. We proceeded at a very brisk pace to Blackpool with no major hiccups bar my navigation plans going completely to pot.
Safety at The Park Cafe in Stanley we where joined by Bob who dropped by. After cake and conversation we set off again minus Sue who wanted to explore the Prom.
Thankfully things had warmed up a bit by now but we still went at a good pace and bar getting lost in a housing estate made good progress to the A6 with Mike, Keith and Stuart departing at various points along the way.
We eased off markedly over the last few miles as fatigue and the cold took its toil resulting in an average speed of 12mph which will disappoint Petulia but is bang on for C group.
Thanks to all for your company and collective help in navigating us all back safely.
