B2 Ride - Blackpool. By Shane Blackmore
B2 Ride Report 03/02/2018
Route 26 Blackpool 51 miles
Average Speed 13.5mph
Elevation a pitiful 1320ft.
Myself and Martin Oglesby in full waterproofs fortunately the rain had eased a little by the time we left.
Five of us left the Cobbles on time follow by one stray playing catch-up Luke Van Lincoln some things don’t change.
We headed South to Bilsborrow prior to heading westerly passing through Inskip, Treales and Kirkham and onto Lytham .
As we neared Lytham Martins steed developed a mechanical he was unable to change gear , so after a short stop we decided to find a cycle shop for a repair to be made. As ever Phil Durrigan knew exactly where to find one as we neared the cycle shop Martin had a change of mind and decided that we should continue on to the cafe instead as it was a flat ride.
As we headed into Blackpool we found we had a nice head wind to cycle into: fortunately we only had a mile or so to go before arriving at the cafe stop.
While in the cafe David Hodgson started a discussion about taking an alternative route to avoid the headwind although Vincent George suggested we should stick to the planned route which we decided to do.
Everyone fed and watered we set off again along the prom heading North for six miles into the wind which slowed our progress down a little.
Leaving the prom at Little Bispham we headed east back to Garstang.
As Luke has already stated it is unusual for the B2’s to arrive back in Garstang with the same number that we started with.!
Although a little damp and windy at times we had a good ride with great company.
