C Ride to Great Eccleston by Stuart Murray
9 wheelers assembled on the cobbles and with a keen (but lazy) wind coming from the north I suspect most of us had 9 layers of clothing on! It was good to see some returning faces we hadn’t been seen for a while. Our route was through Scorton, Winmarleigh, Pilling over the bridge to Great Eccleston, Courtyard café. Grandfather swimming duties meant Pip peeled off early. Hope you had a good swim Pip. As it was such a cold wind we limited the number of catch-up stops but the usual lively chatter continued unabated by an odd blast of horn from an impatient driver. We arithmetically challenged the toll collecting lad at the bridge [8 @ 20p = ??? ] the youth of today! Bob joined us in Little Eccleston, his first club run out since his shoulder op.
We were well fed and watered in the café and the usual wide-ranging subjects (on our table they included leg room on long haul flights to leaking oil tanks) were discussed. Repaired-shoulder Bob, Dodgy-Knee Kenny and Malcolm led the way back via Myerscough where Tamsin peeled off (good to see you Tamsin). This ride co-ordinator made his exit at Lydiate Lane. It was a very enjoyable ride, thanks to everyone taking part. See you all next week.
