B2 Ride to Wray by Dave Hodgson
10 B2 riders left the cobbles on a cold morning. We set off in high spirits but soon realised it would be a long day in the saddle for a number of reasons particularly with temperatures remaining low throughout the day and the predicted rain.

The group was carrying a number of wounded cyclists with Ian Gibson suffering from a groin strain and Myself suffering from an ongoing hamstring injury. I decided to lead from the rear for most of the ride supported by Dave C and Euan Cameron

The ride to the cafe at Wray was steady with a bit of jousting at the front with a number of the combative riders. The log burner at the cafe was very welcoming especially as it started to rain heavily just as we arrived.

As we left the cafe Ian and Jackie left the group to head home whilst the remaining 7 set off into a very cold and biting wind. We soon split into two groups as we left Gressingham.

Dark clouds loomed ahead and it wasn’t too long before the heavens opened and we were into a cold head wind combined with heavy rain. We took a detour up the new bay road to ignore the track along the lune and weaved our way through Lancaster and on towards Cockerham.

At this point I said farewell to the four speedy riders Shane Blackmore Martin Oglesby Simon Thompson and Bill and Euan Dave and Myself made our way back to Garstang. Many thanks to all the riders who were just as foolish as me to come out on the coldest day of the year and Euan and Dave C for riding with me for the second half of the ride.
