B2 Ride to Ingleton by Shane Blackmore
Twelve B2 Riders met at Hornby
Welcome to Chris Joanne Berry (Chris needs a facebook account) on his first ride out with the club.
Pete Hardman set off on his own as he has not been out much lately for the rest of the group to catch him up.
Heading towards Wennington Sarah-Jane had stopped to wait for Ian then they took a wrong turn we saw them later in the ride passing us in the opposite direction.
We continued onto Clapham crossing the A65 and passing through Austwick.
Once we turned North after Helwith Bridge the cycling became a little tougher as we turned in to a head wind heading to Horton in Ribblesdale, we stopped at the top to regroup and as we set off again I picked up a puncture.
Once I had replaced the inner tube I was playing catch up as nobody had realised I had stopped with a problem. Eventually we regrouped. By this time Pete had re-joined us.
Phil Durrigan had suggested a slight change to the route avoiding the main road and taking a quieter route into Ingleton leaving the B6255 at Chapel Le Dale.
Finally reaching the sports café I for one was ready for some food and the service was great I had no sooner sat down after ordering and the food was on the table.
Leaving Ingleton we headed towards Burton in Lonsdale along Bentham Moor Road Phil Durrigan Suggested an alternative route avoiding Burton Hill which we took and upset a local in his 4x4 as he was stuck behind us maybe he should have got a bit of dirt on his tyres and he would have could passed us.
Passing through Wennington for the second time of the day we headed to Wray leaving Wray I signalled to turn left and was quickly called back by Phil saying we would be better continuing along Hornby Road I was only following the route from the website. Nobody fancied the climb up school lane.
We continued along Hornby road back to the carpark.
All in all a great ride and it stayed dry the only downside was the headwind.
