C Ride to Stock a Bank by Pip Riley
A group of 5 women and 10 men set off for the popular Stock-a-bank ride. Although apprehensive about the steep incline at the ride destination the spring sunshine brought smiles all round. Soon into the ride, 2 groups emerged for reasons of general convenience and road safety.
From the Cockerham Road the groups navigated the winding lanes of Forton, crossed the A6 at Bay Horse and reassembled at Five Lane Ends to take in the splendid views of the snow clad mountains of the Lake District.
Next, after Quernmore crossroads, came the steep incline of Stock-a-Bank. Several riders declined this steep pull, opting for the long way round via Postern Gate, whilst others huffed and puffed to the top. The inevitable puncture allowed riders to regroup, some remaining to assist, with all riders enjoying refreshments at the Animal Sanctuary café stop.
The return leg, initially via Hala and the University campus resulted in further regrouping to occur, with 2 riders leaving the main body of the group in Galgate..The final leg took riders via Dolphinholme and Scorton, then back to Garstang.

Just under 30 miles in sunshine!!
